How to use Mobile Phone Apps as a Tracker & GPS
You can use phone apps to track the routes & workouts you have done to compare different days out.
Phone apps can also be used to guide you on a route that you have used before or you can also upload a GPX file of a route that you would like to do to your phone & then use the route you have uploaded to guide you
There are 2 Mobile Phone Apps we use
1 Map My Hike - can be used in Airplane Mode which saves battery power & you can export a route out of the website in a Google Earth format
2 View Ranger - you can view routes with a Map background which is good when you are on a mountain & using this app can be used to guide you in Airplane Mode but you cannot use this app to track a route in Airplane Mode which is a disadvantage
We use Map My Hike To Track a route & use View Ranger to guide us on a route
