From Carrauntoohil 2014 to Brandon 2015
First Charity Climbs
Down through the years there were often Charity Climbs for many different good causes from Crumlin Childrens Hospital to getting a Defribillator for Kanturk GAA.
Finally in 2014 forming a group came up again and by chance we got stuck into organising the 2014 Charity Climb for Pieta House and The Twomey Family Memorial on 14 September.

This ended with 57 Climbers going up Carrauntoohil and raising €2950 in the process. In the organising of this all the email addresses and mobile numbers were gathered together and a Facebook, Twitter and Gmail accounts set up as well as a Text facility which made contacting people very easy. It all went very well with three groups about 20 people each using different routes to reach the top of Ireland.

Getting to know each other and going out more often
With that and more people getting to know each other and other people that were climbing we went out more often. More people were joining in like Anna Ozimkowska, Jer Linehan, Brian O'Rourke and Rosann Heffernan plus some young lads coming along as well for the day out and often meeting up with Denis O'Mahony from Millstreet to guide us in places where we unsure on.

These places started with the Local ones like Clara and Mushera, then next up was The Paps and Mangerton. Then next stop was Carrantoohill again and getting more familiar with it at all times. Then later this year we furthered ourselves again by going to places like Galtymore and Brandon again, sometimes doing these using different routes to the top. We also did one trip to Hungry Hill (Caha Mountains) in West Cork with Denis.

Then finally we set about gathering the crew for this years climb, and it was decided to go to Brandon but starting from Cloghane Village as it was believed there would not be enough space in the usual Car Park.

We ended up over 2 days.
Day 1. God threw a bucket of water down on top of us and we had to abandon after getting half way. Extremely strong wind combined with rain is something what makes mountain climbing too dangerous and it's always better to be safe than sorry.
Day 2. What a contrast from the moment we turned facing in the road for Brandon, it looked good and was.
The mountain that always wears its hat decided to be good to us as well as be clear at the top to show off all its beauty, from Ventry and Ballyferritter on one side as well as Brandon Creek to Castlegregory snd Camp stretching in towards Tralee on the other.

We ended the day with a few in O'Connors pub in Cloghane and then onto The Alley Bar for Food plus a few more pints and a bit of good banter and True Tales to finish the day off.
